Giving The Legend His Shine

Chris Paul is one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. So when he chose to retire during the 2026 All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles after 21 legendary seasons, we had to be there to give him his flowers and his shine.

After the Clippers dropped the ball on a proper farewell tour, GLD stepped in to create a moment worthy of basketball royalty. During an exclusive evening at The Supper Club’s annual dinner, we gifted CP3 a one-of-one custom necklace and pendant designed to commemorate the career of one of the best point guards of all time.

The Official CP3 Retirement Dinner

The GLD-sponsored official retirement dinner brought together icons from every corner of culture. Our founder, Christian Johnston, personally presented Chris with the custom piece. The distinct owl pendant featuring Paul’s logo was designed to reflect 21 seasons of excellence, leadership, and longevity. Every detail was meticulously crafted, and the invite-only dinner was star-studded, right in line with the theme of the weekend.

The two other co-founders of the annual Supper Club alongside CP3, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony (who has been part of the GLD family from our early days) helped host the celebratory night. Current All-Stars and basketball greats were in attendance including Devin Booker, Allen Iverson, and Julius Erving. Jerry Lorenzo was in the mix with athletes like Micah Parsons and Mookie Betts, along with many other talented stars, including Gabrielle Union, Chance the Rapper, Cedric the Entertainer, and Michael Blackson.

In typical GLD fashion, we were at the center of this cultural moment, which blended sports, music, fashion and entertainment, in a room that reflected CP3’s reach far beyond the court. The space was filled with family and an atmosphere where legends showed up to give another legend his well-deserved respect.

The 1-of-1 Piece

The 1-of-1 necklace and pendant created for Chris Paul by GLD was designed exclusively to capture the weight of 21 years in the league. Custom crafted with 14K Gold and VVS diamonds, the owl piece symbolizes leadership, resilience, and both a champion's mindset and character. We chose to build a piece that reflects two legendary decades of greatness, told through every detail.

The owl logo is formed by astrological symbols representing Paul’s family. The right eye represents Taurus, which is CP3’s sign, while the left eye features the Leo symbol for his daughter. The wavy lines in the middle represent the Aquarius symbol for his wife, and the bottom of the logo represents Gemini for his son. We sealed the 21-year legacy in GLD.

All-Star Weekend with GLD at Every Corner

Aside from the retirement dinner, GLD showed up the way we always do throughout All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. We created the official NBA All-Star pendants, bringing our distinct craftsmanship to one of basketball’s biggest stages.

Our NBA Pendant Pieces were on display inside the Merch Village NBA Store, where fans could shop the official NBA collaboration collection and experience the craftsmanship up close. Our booth activation invited attendees to connect with our brand, capture unforgettable moments, and purchase unique pieces throughout the weekend.

Our official retirement celebration and NBA store presence further speak to how GLD is always in the middle where culture lives.

GLD Always in The Mix: The Perfect Parallel

Chris Paul’s career is a masterclass in leadership, longevity, and elevating everyone around him. That same mentality has fueled our GLD journey since the inception of the brand, as we intentionally collaborate with icons and show up for every moment that matters.

Honoring the 21-year career of a legend during one of basketball’s iconic weekends felt like the perfect parallel for us. Two stories of persistence, evolution, and winning on your own terms.
