GLD Returns to X Games: First Aspen, Now Sacramento

This past weekend, GLD pulled up to the West Coast from June 26 to June 28 in Sacramento, California, for X Games Sacramento 2026. This was the first event of the Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026 Summer Season and marked the first time in action sports history that clubs and athletes were able to rack up points toward a championship, so we had to be there for the historic moment. The energy was both impassioned and intense for 18 events across Skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X. The music lineup for the weekend included Kaskade, DJ Mustard, and Subtronics. Kids showed up with X Games logos faded into their haircuts, athletes showed up and showed out, and winners rocked iced-out, custom GLD-designed medals. This marks the second time this year GLD has designed the medals for the X Games, the first being in Aspen this past January, which you can read more about here. This is how it all went down.

GLD Designs the X Games Medals Again

Not many brands can truly say they’re as innovative as GLD, whose design team consistently comes up with creative ideas that are completely new to the market. Back in January, GLD’s design team created the medals for the X Games Aspen and this time, they turned it up even more for the X Games in Sacramento. But before getting into the actual medal, we have to talk about the chain that it comes with.

The chains for each medal were inspired by bicycle roller chains, right in line with the theme of the X Games. The roller chains were reimagined into a wearable design, a never-before-seen iced-out version of the interlocking links with hand-set stones. The visually compelling chains held up the actual medals the athletes won, but are strikingly vivid on their own.

The pendants attached to the iced-out roller chains transform the winners’ medals into wearable pieces of art. They keep the circular silhouette of typical medals, except enlarged and bordered with hand-set stones. The intricate details of the medals include two figures, an airborne skateboarder and BMX rider, both mid-trick, suspended from an iced-out bail. The first-place winners received yellow gold medals, while the athletes who finished second and third received white gold and rose gold, respectively.

Dashawn Jordan’s Custom Snake Ring

Dashawn Jordan is by far one of the flyest athletes, so we had to get him right with a 1-of-1 GLD custom. The custom ring GLD designed for Dashawn features a snake motif, inspired by the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2001 World Series championship, which he always pays homage to. The Arizona native was over the top when he saw the purple hand-set stones in the eye of the snake ring which also matches his custom Nike SB collab shoe.

"Blessed by the guys over at GLD, you know how we coming, we out here shining," Jordan said after receiving his custom GLD ring.

The Athletes Who Came Through Rocking GLD

We linked up with a gang of athletes over the weekend, many of whom were already rocking GLD pieces. Chloe Covell showed us she had the GLD app already downloaded and pulled up rocking the NY Yankees Official MLB Micro Logo Pendant and the Floating Pastel Multicolor Stone Necklace. Sky Brown matched Chloe with the Floating Pastel Necklace. Brady Baker came through wearing the Iced Star Oval Emerald Chain in rose gold. Daniel Sandoval popped out with the 20-inch Diamond Cushion Cut Tennis Chain. The entire weekend was full of special moments, but one that stood out was when Nyjah Huston gifted a young fan in the crowd the GLD X Games Iced Pendant in White Gold. He was super grateful and wasted no time throwing it on right away.

Winners Wear GLD: The X Games Top Performers

The competition at the X Games Sacramento 2026 delivered on every level, with numerous record-breaking performances, ending with Team Tokyo finishing the weekend on top of the league standings with 980 points. Ryan Williams claimed his 13th career gold medal, landing a never-before-seen trick he called the “Oliver Twist.” Arisa Trew tied for the most X Games gold medals won by a woman with her 10th win. Gui Khury raised his gold medal count to 7, claiming his 6th consecutive gold. And at just 11 years old, Mia Kretzer closed the weekend by winning the Women’s Skateboard Vert. All the top performers earned custom GLD medals, because, of course, winners wear GLD. Here’s the full list of winners from all three days:
