For our first story, we’re featuring Christiaan Barrera, a longtime supporter from Rapid City, SD. Christiaan’s journey with GLD started seven years ago when he bought his first piece and has since built a collection of more than 20 pieces. He even became the plug for his friends who bought second-hand pieces directly from him. I don’t want to give it all away, so check out Christiaan’s full story below.

What were you looking for when you found us?
My first piece, which was a rose gold prong chain!
What is your GLD Story?
I have been rocking with you guys since 2019-2020 and bought my first piece during the pandemic. At first, I thought I would only buy a single chain, but I loved it so much, and everyone around me complimented me on my chain. I ended up selling the chain to my best friend and bought the same one again. Since then, I have collected over 20 pieces and have a few more on the way because every time I see something I like, I cop it! GLD has always looked out for me with the discounts and free stuff, and I will continue to support no matter what. GLD has given me the ability to show up in style and turn heads with just a single glare. Proud supporter for many years to come!
Why'd you sell the chain to your best friend — what's that story?
So me and my friend used to make music together. He saw me rocking the chain, which was the Rose Gold Two Tone Prong Link Chain. We were at the studio one day and he asked me where I got it. I showed him the site, and told him he could order one. He wanted it right then and there, but I told him no. He said he’d never seen a chain like that before and the quality was amazing. A couple of weeks went by and I got a matching bracelet, and he was like “Dawg, you’re teasing me right now with the matching bracelet. You gotta let me take those off you.” Again, I told him no because I was in love with the pieces myself. About a month later he ended up convincing me to sell them by offering $100 more than I bought them for and I ended up doing it. I bought the same chain, but ended up buying a Baguette Chain instead of a matching bracelet, thus starting my collection.
Walk us through the 20-piece collection: first, favorite, most recent.
The first chain I ever bought was the aforementioned Two Tone Rose Gold Diamond Prong Link Chain. My favorite has to be the Halo Diamond Bracelet. I just picked up a chain to match that. My most recent purchases were that Halo Chain, 2 Moissanite rings, a Multi Color Bracelet to match the same chain, and also just bought a Gold Moissanite Band Ring for a friend who is always complimenting my “shinies” as she calls them.
When people see you rocking your GLD pieces in Rapid City, how do they react?
Any time I’m rocking my chains out and about, I get tons of looks, double takes, and stares. Random strangers compliment me on my jewelry, and acquaintances always tell me I’m shining and got the drip. I always get asked where I get it from, and I rep the brand GLD proudly and boldly!
What’s your favorite GLD piece and why?
It has to be the Baguette Chain. It's big, thick, and gets me looks and compliments every time I wear it.
What impact has GLD made on your life?
It has given me the confidence I need every time I step out of the house, no matter the situation or occasion!
What do you want to see us create next?
I can't wait to see more merch and new pieces in every category. I love the new multi-color stuff and the moissanite too.
