Festival Season Has Arrived

Festival season has officially arrived, and now we get a chance to see some of the best outfits of the year. Until right around September, there will be constant conversation and reminders of how synonymous music and fashion are. One thing every fire fit has in common, from the stands to the stage, is the right jewelry to accessorize. Jewelry is a focal point in festivals, and this past weekend we saw a range of quiet to loud accessories.

Central Cee performed the majority of his set with a large Cuban link and pendant in his hand, while Justin Bieber’s vintage “Bieberchella” set featured him wearing a single nose hoop ring. Ultimately, it’s rare to see a great fit without some intentional accompanying pieces, so we created a guide to cover everything from chain layering and earring choices, to exactly which GLD pieces work for every festival type and style direction.

What Jewelry are People Wearing to Festivals in 2026?

People are wearing bold and subtle pendants, layered chains, earrings, rings, anklets, and watches to festivals. It gets pretty hot, so many folks let their jewelry do most of the heavy lifting and build their outfits around that. The three style directions dominating fashion at festivals right now are streetwear, western-inspired, and elevated boho. All of these styles rely heavily on jewelry to complete the look. Victor RamosBrooke MumfordAmber Lynne, and Ajaun McLaughlin all showed up wearing unique GLD pieces with their fits, each tailored to their personal style.

What Jewelry Works Best at Festivals?

Yellow gold and white gold are the best metal tones for festivals. They stand out in photos and shine in the sun, elevating any look.  Ashley Marie wore our iced-out cowboy boot pendant with yellow gold GLD pieces to accompany her brown cowboy chic outfit. At night, black rhodium is the standout choice because it creates a sharp contrast against lighter outfits. The standard for festivals is a 2–3 chain stack, layered at staggered lengths, earrings, and some rings. Here’s how each piece works.

Chains: The Foundation for the Festival Outfit

Layered chains are the most popular style of jewelry for festivals. The best way to get this right is to get a shorter chain at 18–20 inches with a pendant, and layer that over a longer 22–24-inch chain. You can also switch it up and put the pendant on the longer chain, it just depends on where you want the pendant to sit. GLD’s team recommends the 5mm Miami Cuban as the most versatile chain for layering. It’s bold enough to stand out on its own, but also works really well with other chains in a stack.

Pendants: Adding Depth to the Stack

Cross pendants and coin pendants are the best choices for festivals. They elevate any fit, stand out for your photos, and create an element of uniqueness to your fit. You can wear a pendant on an 18–20-inch chain to make it sit right below your neckline on your chest, or you can drop it lower on a 22-inch chain for more separation. GLD's Cross Pendant and Coin Pendant collections work across all three festival outfit styles. If you need help choosing the right pendant for you, check out our full pendant style guide.

Earrings: Adding to the Moment

Earrings can never take away from the fit. They only add a layer of expression. You can go with gold hoops, diamond studs, or huggies, it just depends on what you want to accomplish with your look and time of day. Gold hoops stand out in the daytime, diamond studs work well for clean looks in the evenings for night stages, and huggies are the most practical for multi-day festivals when you don’t want to worry about swapping out earrings frequently. Here’s a quick chart to break it down:

Rings: Stacks to Match

Stacking rings works for anyone at festivals. You can wear one, or a bunch, but GLD’s design team recommends 2–3 rings on one or both hands. You can start with a plain band as the base, and stack 1–2 bands along with it. This keeps the look cohesive without overdoing it. We also recommend matching the metals of your rings and chains. You can mix metals too, but matching creates a cleaner look. GLD's ring collection includes options in yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold.

Anklets: The Smaller Details

At festivals, most people are in shorts and sneakers or sandals, so there's a lot of ankle showing. An anklet is a small but beautiful detail. It’s one of those small touches that can completely elevate an outfit.

Jewelry by Festival Type

The right jewelry stack depends on the festival. Here’s what works best for every event.

Coachella: Jewelry that can handle sweat and sun works best for the desert heat. Wear yellow gold throughout the daytime. For all-white or light-colored outfits, opt for black rhodium for maximum contrast. Here’s your stack: 5mm Miami Cuban at 20 inches, Cross Pendant at 18 inches, medium hoop, and 1–2 rings.

Rolling Loud / Hip-Hop Festivals: The best place for bold jewelry of any festival. Layer 2–3 chains with iced-out pendants, and ring stacks to complete the look. Here’s your stack: 5mm Miami Cuban at 22 inches, Iced Cross Pendant, Tennis Chain at 18 inches, diamond stud, and a ring stack.

Stagecoach / Country Festivals: The Western look is already the staple here, so your jewelry should complement the fit without competing. Wear one chain with one meaningful pendant, and 1–2 rings. Here’s your stack: 4mm Rope Chain at 20 inches, Coin Pendant at 18 inches, and a signet ring. All in yellow gold.

Multi-Day Summer Festivals: Durable jewelry is essential through back-to-back days. GLD's vermeil-grade gold plating resists tarnish and humidity better than standard plating. Here’s your stack: 5mm Miami Cuban at 20 inches, one pendant, huggie earring, and one ring.

How to Layer Chains for a Festival

Layering chains is the best choice for festival outfits. Here’s what works for any festival style and outfit type:

  • 1st layer: 3mm Micro Cuban at 18 inches with a pendant. Sits close to the neckline and the pendant is visible.

  • 2nd layer: 5mm Miami Cuban at 22 inches. This is the main piece that hangs below the pendant chain.

  • 3rd layer (optional): Tennis Chain at 16–18 inches. This adds more shine under the heavier chains.

You should keep each layer at least 2–4 inches apart so every chain is visible. Try to avoid going past 3 chains, unless you’re confident you can pull it off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What jewelry should you wear to a festival? The best festival jewelry is 2–3 layered chains at staggered lengths, one earring, and 1–2 rings. Yellow gold stands out the most in photos taken in natural outdoor sunlight, and works with every festival style. For evening sets and night stages, black rhodium creates bold contrast against lighter outfits. The best starting piece is a 5mm Miami Cuban at 20–22 inches with a cross or coin pendant layered underneath at 18 inches. You can get creative and build from there.

What chains are best for festival outfits? The 5mm Miami Cuban, Rope Chain, and Tennis Chain are the most popular chains for festivals right now, and are typically worn layered in stacks. The 5mm Miami Cuban at 22 inches is your main piece. Layer a 3mm Micro Cuban or Rope Chain with a pendant at 18 inches with it. For a bolder look, add a Tennis Chain at 16–18 inches as the third chain to your stack. Keep each chain 2–4 inches apart so every chain is visible.

Can you wear earrings to a festival? Yes. Earrings add to your fit. A medium gold hoop works best for daytime outdoor festivals. Diamond studs or larger hoops are the best move for evening sets and night stages. For multi-day festivals, huggies are the best option that stay secure through movement, dancing, and long days on your feet. You put them on and never have to think about them.

What is the best Coachella jewelry stack? A 5mm Miami Cuban at 20 inches with a cross or coin pendant at 18 inches, a medium gold hoop or diamond stud, and 1–2 rings in yellow gold. For the daytime desert conditions, keep the stack to 2–3 pieces that can handle heat, sun, and sweat. If you're wearing an all-white or light-colored outfit, swap yellow gold for black rhodium. This creates stronger contrast in sunlight.

How do you layer chains for a festival? Keep each chain 2–4 inches apart in length so you can see every chain. The standard stack is a 3mm Micro Cuban with a pendant at 18 inches, a 5mm Miami Cuban at 22 inches, and you can opt for a tennis chain at 16 inches for a bolder, brighter look. Switch up each layer of your chain styles, something like a rope chain under a Miami Cuban, or tennis chain under a rope. Keep it at 3 chains, unless you're confident you can pull off more.

What is black rhodium and when should you wear it at festivals? Black rhodium is a dark-plated metal finish that creates a bold, near-black effect. It looks best at evening sets, night stages, or when you're wearing something light like white, cream, or grey. Yellow gold can't create the same contrast against lighter outfits, and that's where black rhodium shines. GLD's black rhodium collection includes Cuban links, rope chains, and pendants.

Should you wear rings to a festival? Yes. 1–2 rings is the clean baseline for any festival. For streetwear and hip-hop festivals where the look is meant to be bolder, a ring stack of 2–3 on one or both hands works well. GLD's team recommends matching the metals of your rings and chains, so yellow gold with yellow gold, black rhodium with black rhodium. This creates a more cohesive look. You can mix metals, but matching keeps everything tied together.

Should you wear an anklet to a festival? Yes. An anklet is one of the easiest ways to add detail to a festival outfit. Most festival outfits show a lot of ankle between shorts, wide-leg trousers, and sandals, which makes it a natural spot for jewelry that often gets overlooked. GLD's anklet collection includes options in yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold.
